Prateik babbar is an Indian Bollywood actor. He is still young to be catogrized as Bollywood hunk but he definitely has the talent that is necessary to keep him going in the future. He has shown in many movies that he can act and has got some artistry from his parents.

Biography

Pratiek was born on 28 November 1986 in Mumbai. He had assisted ad filmmaker Prahlad Kakkar for a year as a production assistant. During this time Prateik was cast in ad films for various companies, including KitKat. He started his acting career in the Aamir Khan production, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, alongside Imran Khan and Genelia D'Souza. His character of Genelia's brother, Amit, gave him applause from critics and won several awards.

This film was a major commercial success. After that he appeared in Kiran Rao's film Dhobi Ghaat, which opened to positive reviews at film festivals worldwide. He was also seen in the action-thriller Dum Maro Dum with Abhishek Bachchan and Rana Daggubati. He was in the Prakash Jha's film Aarakshan with Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Manoj Bajpai.

Education Qualification

Prateik did his schooling from AVM Bandra, then moved on to Jai Hind College and later St Andrew's College. But he dropped out halfway through before completing his graduation.

Prateik Babbar was born into a filmy family to late actress Smita Patil and actor turned politician Raj Babbar. His mother was a film and television actress and was died at the age of 31 due to childbirth complications. He later married Nadira Zaheer, who is a theatre actress and director. As a politician he was previously in Samajwadi Party and now he is the member of Indian National Congress. Prateik has one half-brother Arya Babbar, who is a film actor and one half-sister, who is also a film and television actress. Shivajirao Girdhar Patil, who is an Indian social activist and politician is Prateik's maternal grandfather. He recalls his mother as an angel and hoped to become her "sunshine kid".

Career[edit]

Babbar assisted advertisement filmmaker Prahlad Kakkar for a year as a production assistant. During this time Babbar was cast in advertisement films for several companies, including KitKat.[1]
Babbar made his acting debut in the Aamir Khan production, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na alongside Imran Khan and Genelia D'Souza. His portrayal of the annoying, attention-seeking brother of Genelia's character won him critical appreciation as well as numerous awards.[2] At the 54th Filmfare Awards, Babbar received a Special Jury certificate, as well as nominations for Best Male Debut and Best Supporting Actor.[3][4] The film went on to become a major commercial success.[1]
Following this initial success, he appeared in films which earned him little recognition.[5] In 2011, Babbar appeared in four films, the first of which wasKiran Rao's Dhobi Ghaat, which opened to positive reviews at film festivals worldwide.[2] Babbar also featured in the action-thriller Dum Maro Dum alongside Abhishek Bachchan and Rana Daggubati, and in the Prakash Jha-directed social dramaAarakshan with Amitabh BachchanSaif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone. Also, in 2011, he acted opposite Kalki Koechlin inMy Friend Pinto. His subsequent films include Ekk Deewana Tha and Issaq, both of which underperformed at the box office.[5] He is currently shooting for Saurav Chakraborty's Bengali film titled Auroni Taukhon with Paoli Dam.[6]

Personal life[edit]

Babbar was born on November 28, 1986 and is the son of late actress Smita Patil and actor-politician Raj Babbar.[6][7][8] His mother died due to complications in child birth after Prateik was born.[9] He has said that he had a strained relationship with his father while growing up, as he was "always busy with his other family", but stated that he had later reconciled with him.[6]Babbar's step-mother is actress Nadira Babbar and his step-siblings are Arya Babbar and Juhi Babbar, who are also actors.[10]
In 2011, during the filming of Ekk Deewana Tha, he began a relationship with Amy Jackson and got a tattoo reading her name on his left arm. They broke up the following year.[11]
