Biography: Largely a South Indian actress, Madhhurima has acted in varied Telegu, Tamil and even Kannada films. She has acted in quite a few television serials followed by her Hindi film debut,’ Toss: A Flip of Destiny’ in 2009. She played the role of Sherry in the film. Soon after she plunged into the Telegu film industry with Aa Okkadu (2009) essaying Dr.Pavitra. She continued with Telegu movies like Mouna Ragam , Saradaga Kasepu  and Alasyam Amrutam in the year 2010. Her role Manimala, a lawyer in Vamsi’s Saradaga Kasepu won her many accolades. She appeared for a small part in Bhaskar’s Orange (2010). She worked in the Tamil remake of Hindi film, Ab Tak Chappan, by the name of Epeeko. She is currently working on Marricha (Kannada), Mahankali (Telegu) and Shadow (Telegu). Her forthcoming Bollywood movie is Priyadarshan’s laughter riot, Kamaal Dhammal Malammal which is due for September 28, 2012 release. She would star as Shreyas Talpade’s love interest Maria in the film along with the likes of Om Puri, Nana Patekar, and Paresh Rawal.
Madhhurima is born to a mechanical engineer father and a researcher turned novelist mother. A law graduate, she took keen interest in classical Indian music and had formal lessons in Kathak from childhood itself.

Madhuurima Banerjee, popularly known mononymously as Madhuurima, is an Indian film actress. Following appearances in various television serials, she made her feature film debut in Toss: A Flip of Destiny (2009) and went on to act in several Telugu films.

Early life[edit]

Madhuurima was born and brought up in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Madhuurima's father is a mechanical engineer who served in the Indian Navy, before he began working as the general manager of the largest private shipyard of India.[1] Her mother had been working as researcher in the field of virology and as a content writer for multinational companies and later turned a novelist.[1] Madhurima has one brother who is four years younger to her. She has completed her Bachelor of Laws with an LLB degree.[1]
Madhuurima has learnt Hindustani classical music and ghazal from her mother and used to sing children songs.[1][2] She also learnt the classical dancing form Kathak but had to discontinue due to her father's transferable job.[3] While recording a song one day, she was spotted by noted director G. V. Iyer who signed her on for a Hindi television serial Kadambari.[1][2] She was supposed to play Sita's role in a film adaptation of Ramayanathat G. V. Iyer was planning to shoot, however the director died and the project failed to materialize.[3] During her eleventh standard, she acted in further TV serials, including one by K. Balachander,[1] while anchoring in a TV channel as a part-time job.[3]

Career[edit]

Madhuurima made her feature film debut in Toss: A Flip of Destiny (2009).[4] The same year she appeared in her first Telugu film. She went on to act in three Telugu projects within the next one year, including the female lead role in Vamsy's Saradaga Kasepu and a cameo role in Orange, directed by Bhaskar. However, none of the Telugu films helped her career.[5] In 2012, her second Bollywood film Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal directed by Priyadarshan released.[6] Next year she appeared in two Telugu films Mahankali and Shadow.[7] She had also signed for the Tamil remake of the Hindi film Ab Tak Chhappan, Kadamai Kanniyam Kattupadu,[8][9] which was later renamed as Eepeeko,[10] but the film was not completed and got shelved.
2014 she was first seen in the Telugu film Veta,[11] which was followed by her first Kannada release, Savaari 2 and her first Malayalam release, Koothara. Savaari 2 saw her playing a bank manager,[12] while in Kootharashe played the role of Shaista, an NRI.[13] She then starred in Maruthi's Kotha Janta starring Allu Sirish[14] and made a special appearance in Green Signal which was co-produced by Maruthi.
In early 2015, she was seen in Puri Jagannadh's Temper,[15] and then in two Tamil films, Serndhu Polama[16] helmed by Malayalam director Anil Kumar[17] and Sundar C.'s Aambala.[18] She stated that she played the central character in Temper, going on to add that the basic story revolved around her.[19] She is working on the Telugu film, Close Friends and has completed the Malayalam film Black Coffee, in which she plays a Malayali living in Mumbai.[20]
