Biography: Punit Malhotra has been associated with the film industry since 2001. He assisted director Karan Johar for the blockbuster film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, starring Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor. In 2003, he worked as an assistant director with Nikhil Advani in his hit film Kal Ho Naa Ho, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Saif Ali Khan.
In 2005, Punit assisted ace actor-filmmaker Amol Palekar in his film Paheli, which had Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji in the lead roles. Though the film was not a huge success at the box office, it gave a lot of exposure to Punit. His next project was Tarun Mansukhani’s 2008 film Dostana, which had Priyanka Chopra, Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham in the lead roles.
Punit tried his hand at acting in 2009, when he appeared in a short film named Unnoticed Love. His debut directorial project was I Hate Luv Storys, for which he had written the story as well. The film was produced by Karan Johar and Ronnie Screwvala and had Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor playing the lead characters. Costumes were designed by his uncle Manish Malhotra. The film was a hit at the box office and won several nominations at various award functions.
His upcoming film is an untitled project starring Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan, and will be produced by Karan Johar. Punit is rumored to be dating Sonam Kapoor.

Punit Malhotra (born 13 May 1982) is an Indian film director who works in Hindi cinema.[1] His first film, I Hate Luv Storys,[2] released on 2 July 2010. He is the nephew of famous Indian designer, Manish Malhotra. Manish was the costume designer for I Hate Luv Storys starring Sonam Kapoor and Imran Khan.

Career[edit]
Malhotra worked as an assistant director on Karan Johar's Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), Nikhil Advani's Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), Amol Palekar's Paheli (2005) and Tarun Mansukhani's Dostana (2008). Finally he made his debut as an director with I Hate Luv Storys (2010), which he also wrote.
Malhotra's last movie wasGori Tere Pyaar Mein, produced under Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, starring Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan (actor) who were earlier paired in Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu.[4]
